Q: Isn’t it weird to have strangers in your home?
A: Not really. We’ve traveled a lot both independently and as a couple, so the concept of staying as a guest in someone’s house is not new for us. The only thing that is different in this case is that we are providing the house and you are the visitor. We love to help visitors get the most out of their trip to Steamboat, and since we are both personable and interested in meeting new people, its a great opportunity to meet new friends and learn about where they live.

Q: Do you live in the home too?
A: This is a very good question. The guest house is our full time residence. We live upstairs with our full time housemate and the three of us share our own second floor bathroom. You on the other hand will be renting the master bedroom and bathroom on the first floor, that no one else but you will be using. The kitchen, living room and sun room are all considered common space and ideally this is where we all mix and get to know one another. Many wonderful ad hoc dinner parties have been put together at the last minute in our kitchen and served in our dining room.

Q: In terms of dinner, if we were willing to purchase groceries and/or split the costs for dinner food, could something of that nature be arranged? We would prefer a home-cooked meal after a long day on the slopes as opposed to going out.
A: The kitchen is certainly available for you to self cater. If you would rather that we cook a meal for you, that can be arranged as well. For example, if you were willing to buy the groceries, my fiance (a wonderful cook) would be willing to cook for the 4 of us to eat together.

Q: You said that the house is located on a ski bus route, correct?
A: The end of our driveway is the free bus. It comes every 20 minutes from 6 am to 2 am. Takes you directly to the ski mountain in about 10 minutes and then onward to downtown. So you absolutely do not need a rental car while you are here. The bus will also go right by the grocery store (2 of them in fact) so you can buy groceries.

Q: Also, do we have permission to use the kitchen to make lunches to bring up on the mountain with us if we’d like?
A: You have full use to self cater in the kitchen. You also have access to the fridge to store cold cuts or anything else for that matter.

Q: Is the snow in Steamboat really better?
A: Actually it is. Every guest we have ever had has mentioned something about the amazingly light snow in Steamboat.

Q: How can I get to your Steamboat Guest House from the Denver International Airport (DIA) or the Hayden/Steamboat Springs Airport (HDN)?
A: Both airports obviously rent cars. The drive in clear weather is roughly 3 hours from DIA and in snow could take upwards of 4 hours from DIA. The Hayden airport is 20 miles west of Steamboat and the drive takes roughly 30 minutes. If you don’t want to rent a car, you can take Alpine Taxi from both DIA or HDN, directly to the front door of our Guest House (http://www.alpinetaxi.com/) .

Q: Is it possible for us to bring our dog?
A: Sorry, but we don’t permit dogs at our guest house. As dog owners, we understand and appreciate your desire to travel with your dog. However, we have had situations in the past in which our dog does not get along with a visiting dog. Because of this, we have decided not to allow dogs.

Q: Do I have to like dogs to stay with you?
A: Ideally that would help. Our 9 year old chocolate lab named Molly Brown is a figure in the household. We check with all new guests to confirm that they are not allergic to dogs. Molly would, of course, prefer if you liked dogs, too.

Q: How can I book a room at your guest house?
A: Check the availability calendar for the nights that you are interested in. Our calendar is always up to date, so yes, you can trust it. Send us an email from that page, indicating which day you would like to check-in and which day you would like to check-out. We will get back to you as soon as possible with a rental contract and invoice.

Q: How much does it cost to stay at your Steamboat Springs guest house?
A: The master bedroom rents for $100 per night for 2 adults. There are no additional fees on top of this rate, and therefore we ask for a 2-night minimum. We do have a full sized futon in the sun room that would accomodate two kids or one adult. We charge an additional $25 per person per night for the futon.

Q: What is included in the price?
A: The price includes the master bedroom and a one time linen set-up. You are also more than welcome to enjoy a hot cup of tea or coffee each morning. With full access to the kitchen, there are endless possibilities for you to self cater your breakfast, lunch and/or dinner.

Q: What does your Guest House offer which helps it stand apart from other lodging options in Steamboat Springs, CO?
A: There are many lodging options in Steamboat Springs, but none other will provide you with the level of service that allows you to live like a local, with locals, in a ski town. From dual down comforters, to flannel sheets, access to the private backyard hot tub, a cozy wood burning stove and over 10 years of experience in the Yampa Valley; you will not learn more about the area and have fun doing it, than at our Steamboat Springs Guest House. We offer you access to our Netflix membership, so send over your requests and your DVD’s will be waiting. We also have 60 channels of cable TV and free Wireless Internet. So if you are like us, the added benefit of having Internet where you stay is almost required, even on vacation. The kitchen is available for self catering, which can save tons of money over needing to eat out each and every meal. We offer a very special lodging experience which is an excellent value for those folks visiting Steamboat in the winter or the summer.

Q: What kind of people stay at your guest house?
A: We tend to attract people who have traveled the world and are familiar with the concept of a guest house. People who are sociable and like meeting others are often drawn to our home. Many people start as guests and leave as friends. We also host couples and families who are new to the guest house concept in America, but are intrigued by it, and are looking for something more personable and fun than a local hotel/motel/condo.

Q: Do you all have a copy of the Steamboat Pirate Map?
A: Of course we do, what good guest house wouldn’t! Spend time with us and uncover hidden tree stashes in secret places on the ski hill.
